UCSD maintains a licensing arrangment with Sophos
for virus protection software. This allows the Department of Music to
purchase licenses at a reasonable cost for all Faculty and Staff PCs and
Macs.
Submit a Computer
Support request for a copy of Sophos and instructions on
maintaining updated virus definitions.
During the Summer of 2003, UCSD was hit by multiple worms
and viruses. Most of these targeted Windows computers. If you have a Windows
computer which is attached to the UCSD network, it is essential that you
run all of the recommended security updates.
It is recommended that computers which access the network
frequently run virus software which scans e-mail and the system in real-time.
